A strategic roadmap

An established service organization approached Noland to improve consistency across a growing network of operational sites. As the business expanded, differences in processes, performance standards, resource utilization, and management practices began creating uneven results between locations and making it harder for leadership to maintain a consistent customer experience.

Noland mapped the operating structure across multiple sites and compared workflows, resource requirements, performance indicators, and management practices to identify the main sources of inconsistency. Using these findings, we developed a unified operational roadmap designed to standardize critical processes while allowing individual locations enough flexibility to respond to local conditions.

The roadmap created a clearer operating model for managing performance across the network. Site leaders gained greater clarity around expectations and responsibilities, while central leadership received a more consistent framework for monitoring performance, identifying gaps, and supporting continuous improvement across locations.

Approach

Solutions

Rather than applying a single operating model without considering local requirements, Noland evaluated each site to understand the differences affecting performance. Operational reviews and discussions with site leaders helped identify recurring challenges as well as practices that could be replicated across the wider organization.

Based on the assessment, we established common operating standards, clearer performance measures, and a structured approach to resource planning. High-performing practices were incorporated into the broader framework, while site-specific requirements were retained where they contributed to operational effectiveness and customer needs.

The solution improved alignment between locations while giving management a stronger mechanism for monitoring operational performance. With standardized processes and clearer accountability in place, the organization could address performance gaps more efficiently and maintain a more consistent level of service across its growing network.

Results & Business Impact

Business Impact

The project helped the organization create greater consistency across its multi-site operations without removing the flexibility required at the local level. Leadership gained a clearer view of performance differences between locations and could identify areas requiring support or operational improvement more quickly.

The new operating framework also made it easier to share successful practices and establish common expectations across the network. Over time, this created a more scalable approach to managing site performance and provided the organization with a stronger foundation for maintaining service quality as its footprint continued to grow.
